Catholic Welfare Services

CWS logo full_edited_edited.png

Catholic Welfare Services, Singapore (CWS) was founded in 1959 as a charity aimed at uplifting the lives of the less fortunate in the community. Following in the spirit of the Good Shepherd and Good Samaritan, CWS has sought to lead people towards love and fulfilment, while supporting those who may have stumbled along the way. In the more than 60 years since our founding, we have grown and expanded our programmes and services to meet the evolving needs of the community. Today, CWS endeavours to provide ‘Full Circle of Life Care’ – serving the needs of residents and clients across generations, and journeying with them towards living life to the fullest.

Our History & Heritage

Our heritage started from a humble beginning in 1959 and we've been continuing our journey with people in need ever since.

AboutUsMission.jpg

1. From Humble Beginnings

Catholic Welfare Services began its work over 65 years ago in 1959, operating a simple food relief programme for those in need in the community. Over the years, we gradually expanded our programmes and services to meet the evolving needs of the community, such as providing scholarship and education support, offering casework and counselling to those in need, and operating Nursing Homes for the elderly.

2. Forging New Paths

CWS has continually endeavoured to explore new ways to support those we serve, seeking out opportunities to collaborate with various community partners on innovative projects, such as such as the Good Shepherd Centre, the Marine Parade Family Service Centre, and the Catholic Aids Response Effort.

3. Action Arm of the Catholic Church

Through our years of serving the community, Catholic Welfare Services has grown to become an Action Arm for the Catholic Church of Singapore, supporting the Catholic Social Mission of alleviating poverty and providing relief to those in distress.
